Product Description
Discover the delightful Nicola potato seed: a second early seed potato variety that combines exceptional taste with impressive yields. First bred in the 1970s, Nicola has fast become recognised as one of the best-tasting new potatoes around.
These waxy seed potatoes produce nicely-formed oval tubers with smooth, cream skin and pale yellow flesh. Nicola's waxy texture makes it perfect for boiling and serving whole, drizzled with butter, or as a delicious addition to cold salads.
The Nicola potato seed’s versatility in the kitchen is matched by its performance in the garden. It boasts good resistance to eelworm and scab, making it a solid disease-resistant seed potato for both novice and experienced gardeners. The plants typically mature in 15-16 weeks, offering a bountiful harvest of medium-sized tubers.
To maximise your Nicola potato harvest, we recommend chitting prior to planting out. This process encourages seed potatoes to sprout, allowing them to establish more readily and leading to bigger crops. Simply place them in an old egg box, blunt end up, until the shoots are approximately 1 ½ to 2½ cm (½ to 1in) long.
