Growing Geraniums from Seed
Our collection of geranium seeds includes both hardy and tender geraniums, which are often grown as annuals in the UK. For most varieties, we recommend sowing indoors from January-March, keeping seeds warm until germinated. When large enough, transplant seedlings to pots with free-draining soil. Water regularly and use a potassium-rich fertiliser to encourage flowering.
As the weather warms up, gradually acclimatise your young geraniums to the outdoors, avoiding frost. They will be ready to move to their flowering positions in June, where they will produce beautiful blooms through to autumn.
For those with limited outdoor space, Pelargonium geranium seeds can also be grown as indoor houseplant seeds. They’ll need a bright windowsill or conservatory that gets plenty of sunlight throughout the day.
