Beefsteak Tomato Seeds

Home-grown beefsteak tomatoes are worlds apart from supermarket varieties, which are often chosen for shelf life over taste. With Mr Fothergill’s beefsteak tomato seeds from our extensive tomato seeds collection, you can grow your own gigantic, delicious tomatoes that deliver a burst of vine-ripened flavour in every bite.

Beefsteak tomatoes are the largest tomatoes you can grow at home. Their meaty texture is perfect for soups, sauces and slicing thickly onto sandwiches. Best of all, they make the ideal burger topping for your sizzling summer barbecue.

Our high-quality beefsteak tomato seeds produce robust plants loaded with colossal fruits. Choose from classic heritage cultivars, like the Italian Costoluto Fiorentino, to heavy-cropping hybrid marvels like the RHS award-winning Tomande F1.

Grow Your Own Beefsteak Tomatoes

Growing mouth-watering beefsteak tomatoes is easier than you might think. These giants need a long, warm season to reach their full potential, and mature later than standard and cherry tomatoes. Indeterminate (vine) beefsteaks will continue to grow throughout the season, whereas determinate (bush) varieties will reach a certain height and then stop.

As indoor tomato seeds, start your beefsteak tomato seeds inside from January to April for a rewarding summer harvest. Beefsteak seedlings need a bright, sunny windowsill, with temperatures around 18-21°C. Plant outside or in your greenhouse once temperatures are reliably warm (typically late May). Provide fertile, nutrient-dense soil, water regularly, and stake plants as they grow to help support the heavy fruit.

In return, you'll be picking large, succulent slicers aplenty for the ultimate summer salads and burgers. With a little care, these kings of tomatoes deliver big, juicy rewards!
