Nigella Seeds

There are many species in the Nigella genus. Nigella damascena, or love-in-a-mist, is perhaps the most well-known – these hardy wildflower seeds produce unique blue jewel-like flowers, with some varieties also available in shades of white and pink. Nigella sativa is known for its edible seeds (often called black caraway or black cumin seeds) that add an intriguing peppery flavour to Middle Eastern and Indian dishes.

Nigella seeds are very easy to grow and look spectacular as border flowers, thriving in full sun. Most varieties can be sown directly outdoors and require very little attention. As annual flower seeds, they will die after their first season, but will freely self-seed around the garden! The seeds can also be collected while still in the pods.
