The First Vegetables to Plant in Spring
We know, we know - it can be tempting to get stuck in and plant all of your favourite vegetables as soon as spring swings around. But don’t forget, there may still be some light frosts during those early weeks of the season, so it’s important to think tactically about what to plant first.
Able to resist light frost, lettuce plants are a great place to start. If you’ve been growing radish seeds indoors or in your greenhouse over the end of winter, the beginning of spring is a great time to plant them out. The cooler weather actually positively impacts the flavour of radishes, so get them in the soil ASAP!
Easy Vegetables to Plant in Spring
At Fothergill’s, we believe gardening should be simple and accessible to everyone - so we’re making it easy. There are plenty of easy vegetables to plant in spring that don’t require a whole lot of maintenance. Vegetables like tomatoes, lettuce and courgette plants are especially straightforward - they simply require regular watering during dry periods, weeding when necessary and protection from pesky pests!
