All our customers can therefore be assured of first class quality seed potatoes for their gardens and allotments.

Potatoes are delivered in:

- 1kg: approx 8-14 tubers

- 2.5kg: approx 20-35 tubers

- 5kg: approx 40-70 tubers

["Collection:all products (excluding drop ship HARDWARE)","Collection:MRF all products exc all hardware","Collection:Salad Potatoes","Collection:Salad Seed Potatoes","Collection:Second Early Seed Potatoes","harvest:august","harvest:july","plant type:potatoes","potatoes:no kits or colls","product family:potatoes","product family:seed potatoes","product type:tubers","resistance&tolerance:disease resistant","sow outdoors:april","sow outdoors:may
"option1":"2.5kg (approx 20-35 tubers)","option2":null,"option3":null
["2.5kg (approx 20-35 tubers)
"option1":"5kg (2 x 2.5kg, approx 40-70 tubers)","option2":null,"option3":null
["5kg (2 x 2.5kg, approx 40-70 tubers)
"option1":"1kg (approx 8-14 tubers)","option2":null,"option3":null
[49533205709111
["1kg (approx 8-14 tubers)
["//mr-fothergills.co.uk/cdn/shop/files/POT-269z.jpg?v=1729938576
//mr-fothergills.co.uk/cdn/shop/files/POT-269z.jpg?v=1729938576
Type

We have been totally astounded by the huge yields from this new and exciting salad potato – over 30 small, waxy spuds per plant were the’ norm’ when we harvested from our trials ground last summer! Portable, easy to grow and easy to harvest. Plant 4 seed potatoes (use early or salad potato varieties) in multi-purpose compost in the inner pot and check on their progress by lifting up the inner pot out of the outer pot. The best results are achieved if the seed is “pre-sprouted” or “chitted” before planting. Pick new potatoes from the pot all season. After approx. 8 weeks (if pre-chitted) you can begin to harvest your own new potatoes. You would need additional 2 weeks if using non pre-chitted potatoes. This can be repeated many times – right up until the first frosts. A fun and tasty delight for the whole family.

Growing instructions:
• Place the inner pot inside the outer pot.
• Add compost to a depth of 5cm – 10cm
• Plant the 4 seed potatoes approx. 5 cm from the outside of the pot and in the middle of each window. Place the seed potatoes halfway up the height of the pot.
• The tubers should be covered with compost either in stages as the plants grow directly or until the pot is full.
• Water thoroughly and set the pot in a warm/light location.
• From 4 weeks water regularly and feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser. When watering, avoid wetting the foliage as this will encourage blight
• Check on the development by lifting the inner pot up.
• From 10 weeks, after emergence, lift the inner pot out and pick any visible tubers. Plant your second earlies in the spring and they’ll be ready to unearth from early July. You can harvest them a little earlier for tender new potatoes, or leave them in the ground a bit longer to achieve a larger size for roasting.
Our selection of second early seed potatoes includes all of the most popular second early seed varieties: International Kidney, Charlotte, Maris Peer and many more. The Kestrel is a great choice if you’re looking for something easy to grow and resistant to pests.
