Product Description
Potatoes are one of the most rewarding crops to grow, producing so much from so little. The smell of freshly dug soil as you lift them is unbeatable, as is their 'just harvested' taste. Savour freshly dug new potatoes from late autumn into winter - imagine lifting them first thing on Christmas morning! These late croppers produce slightly smaller yields than main season crops but if anything, this makes you appreciate them all the more!
The varieties listed have been kept in a cool store to stop them chitting but, once removed from our store in mid July, they quickly come into delayed growth. Planted in late July, they will crop from October and with a little straw protection, through to Christmas.
Collection includes 1.5kg tubers each of Charlotte AGM, Maris Peer and Nicola.
Charlotte Traditionally a favourite salad potato and now a wonderful second cropping variety. Charlotte is lovely as a 'new potato' and wonderful cold in salads, it stays firm when cooked and can be sautéed or even roasted. A long oval variety, producing yellow skinned waxy potatoes with creamy yellow flesh. Fine flavoured and highly recommended.
Maris Peer Smooth, yellow skin with a hint of sweetness and firm cream coloured flesh that tastes superb. The Maris Peer holds its colour and does not break up when cooked. It is ideal for eating hot or cold, simply outstanding for chipping and potato wedges. Has some resistance to scab.
Nicola Elongated white tubers with creamy yellow. waxy flesh and a superb sweet, nutty taste. Features good resistance to blight and scab. Nicola is a popular variety for late planting and highly recommended for salads or as a boiling potato.
