April-July, 2in (5cm) deep, 6in (15cm) apart, allowing 18in. (45cm) between rows. For an earlier crop, sow under cloches from early April. Or, indoors, from April in pots in gentle warmth, harden off and plant out to growing position in June. Harvest: June onwards. Pick regularly when still young to encourage continuous cropping.
