Begonia Illumination Mixed F1 Seeds

Illumination Begonias are trailing begonia plants that produce an abundance of gorgeous double flowers through summer, right up until the first frosts. Unlike upright begonias, Illumination Begonias naturally spill over the edges of pots, creating a full, cascading display – ideal for hanging baskets, window boxes, and containers. They are available in many vibrant shades, including red, orange, pink, yellow, and white, and mixed varieties like our Begonia Illumination Mix.

Begonia Illumination is a type of trailing begonia, so it grows wide rather than tall: its long, cascading stems can reach 38cm (15in) and a spread of up to 1m (40in). Its trailing nature allows it to spill over the edges of containers and baskets or creep along the ground. Trailing begonias like Illumination have longer stems than upright begonias, but upright varieties grow taller due to their vertical growth habit.

Like most begonias, Begonia Illumination is technically a perennial plant – however, it is not hardy, meaning it can’t tolerate cold temperatures. While it is possible to overwinter Illumination begonias by bringing them indoors until spring, it can be challenging to provide the right conditions for them. For this reason, most UK gardeners treat them as half-hardy annuals and simply replace them with new plants each year.
