When to Sow Sweet William Seeds

Sow Sweet William seeds from late spring to early summer, around May to July. This gives them time to establish before winter, giving you strong plants that bloom the following year. For earlier flowers, you can also sow them in late summer and overwinter young plants in a sheltered spot.

How to Grow Sweet Williams

Sow seeds thinly in well-prepared soil, either in seed trays or directly where they will flower. Cover lightly with compost and keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them to their final position, spacing them 20-25cm apart. They thrive in full sun and well-drained soil, producing lots of flowers with only minimal care. Deadhead your Sweet Williams regularly if you want to extend their flowering season.
