Description

International Kidney (Second Early Seed Potato) is a classic heritage variety, widely recognised as the potato behind the famous 'Jersey Royal'. Renowned for its excellent flavour and distinctive waxy texture, it produces long, white-skinned tubers with firm, cream flesh that are perfect for boiling, steaming and summer salads. As a reliable second early, it provides generous crops from July through to August, although it can also be grown on as a maincrop if desired.

Plant chitted tubers in early April, or a little earlier in warmer parts of the UK, in fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny position. Suitable for borders, raised beds and large containers, this upright variety is easy to grow and rewards gardeners with delicious home-grown potatoes throughout the summer.

Second Early Seed Potatoes
Grow your main summer supplies from these fine, heavy cropping varieties, ready to harvest from early July through to August. Chitting before planting encourages strong shoots, helping tubers establish quickly and produce heavier crops. Simply stand the tubers with the blunt end facing upwards in an egg box until sturdy shoots reach approximately 1.5-2.5cm (½-1in) long before planting.

Potatoes are one of the most rewarding vegetables to grow, from the anticipation of the first shoots through to lifting your own fresh harvest. Few vegetables can match the flavour and satisfaction of home-grown potatoes picked straight from the soil.

Supplied as a 1 Kg pack.
