Description

Potato Sarpo Mira (Maincrop Seed Potato) is a superb Hungarian-bred variety prized for its exceptional blight resistance and dependable garden performance. Pink-skinned tubers with deliciously floury flesh develop into generous crops that are naturally drought tolerant, less attractive to slugs and store well throughout the winter. Perfect for roasting, baking, mashing and chipping, this reliable maincrop has also been recognised with the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Supplied as 1kg (approx. 8-14 tubers).

Growing your own potatoes is one of the most satisfying ways to enjoy fresh, home-grown produce. From preparing the tubers and planting them out to uncovering a plentiful harvest, Sarpo Mira rewards gardeners with heavy yields while requiring very little maintenance. Its natural resilience makes it an excellent choice for growers looking for reliable crops season after season.

Although chitting is not essential for this maincrop variety, allowing the tubers to sprout before planting can help produce an earlier harvest. Place the tubers with the blunt end facing upwards in an old egg box until the shoots are approximately 1-1.5cm (½-1in) long before planting outdoors.

Maincrop Seed Potatoes
Plant chitted tubers from mid-April and start harvesting two weeks after the tops have died down, from late August through until October. All these varieties store well throughout the winter using our heavy duty potato sacks in a dark, airy frost-free place.
