Primula Cowslip Seeds

Sow thinly, outdoors, February-April or September-November, on the surface of a small tray of pre-watered compost. Place in a cold frame or outside, but protect trays from birds and mice with polythene or glass. Do not let the surface of the compost dry out. Germination may be erratic and may not occur until seeds have been subjected to a period of cold temperatures. Transplant individually, when large enough to handle, to 7.5cm (3") pots. Always hold by a leaf, never by the stem. Grow on to allow plants to develop, before planting out, March-May or September-October, into well-drained soil, spacing 15cm (6") apart. Flowers: March to May.
