Description

Pollinator Friendly Bulb Collection brings together 113 bulbs and corms across five varieties, creating a colourful and varied display while providing flowers that are attractive to pollinators. From early-flowering crocuses to English bluebells, vivid blue camassia and impressive ornamental alliums, the collection offers changing colour, height and structure from early spring into early summer.

Plant during autumn, taking account of the different growing conditions each variety prefers. Crocuses, camassia and alliums can be planted in sunny or partially shaded positions as appropriate, while English bluebells are particularly at home beneath deciduous trees and shrubs or in dappled shade. Planting in generous groups and allowing suitable varieties to naturalise will help create an increasingly established display.

Collection contains 113 bulbs and corms:

  • Allium giganteum Bulbs – 3 bulbs
Large spherical heads of lilac-purple flowers rise on strong stems to create impressive height and architectural structure from May to June, with blooms that are attractive to pollinators and excellent for cutting.
  • Allium Siculum Nectaroscordum Flower Bulbs – 20 bulbs
Graceful nodding umbels of bell-shaped flowers in soft pink, cream and green tones attract pollinators before developing distinctive upright seed heads that extend their decorative interest.
  • Camassia Quamash Flower Bulbs – 20 bulbs
Upright spikes of vivid blue, star-shaped flowers appear from May to June and are ideal for cottage-style borders and naturalising through grassy areas, while providing flowers attractive to pollinators.
  • Crocus Species Flower Bulb Mix – 50 mixed corms
One of the earliest displays in the collection, these compact crocuses produce an abundance of contrasting colour from as early as January and provide useful early forage for pollinators.
  • English Bluebell Flower Bulbs – 20 bulbs
Graceful nodding bells of true blue appear above glossy green foliage from April to May, creating the familiar look of British woodland and naturalising well in suitable shaded positions.

We work closely with our growers to offer high-quality bulbs selected for rewarding garden performance. Our bulbs are tried and tested on our own trials ground in Suffolk or on those of our growers, helping gardeners create beautiful displays that can be enjoyed alongside the bees, butterflies and other pollinators that visit them.
