Oh Sow Simple - Alyssum Seeds

Sow outdoors between March and May, where the plants will bloom. Plant seeds 0.5 cm (1/4") deep in well-drained, finely-prepared soil that has already been watered. Seedlings typically emerge in 14-28 days. Thin them to 15 cm (6") apart. Ensure consistent watering until the plants are established and keep the area weed-free.

Alternatively, sow indoors from February to April. Plant seeds 0.5 cm (1/4") deep in trays filled with compost. Water thoroughly and place the trays in a warm spot, ideally at a temperature of 10-15°C (50-60°F). Keep the soil moist. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into separate trays, spacing them 5 cm (2") apart. Always handle seedlings by the leaves, not the stems. Grow them in cooler conditions, avoiding cold. Gradually acclimate the young plants to outdoor conditions, taking care to protect them from frost. Once the risk of frost has passed, plant them outdoors between May and June, spacing them 15 cm (6") apart. They will begin flowering from June to October.
