Description

Mulberry Mojo Berry Fruit Plant is a fantastic compact variety, ideal for bringing home-grown fruit to patios, allotments and smaller gardens. Slow growing and naturally dwarf in habit, it forms an attractive deciduous shrub reaching around 1.5m when kept in a container, or a small tree up to 2.5m when grown to maturity in the ground. Dark green, heart-shaped foliage gives it plenty of ornamental appeal, and this exceptional variety was named RHS Chelsea Flower Show Plant of the Year in 2017.

Unlike many traditional mulberries, this variety produces fruit on both old and new wood, helping to provide a long harvest that can often extend from late May into late September. It is also unusual in its ability to fruit while young, with plants often producing a small harvest in their first year after planting. The developing fruits change from pale green and pink to black as they ripen, when they are ready to enjoy freshly picked or use in jams, tarts and other sweet treats.

Plant in a sunny position in the ground or grow in a patio container where its naturally compact habit is particularly useful. Hardy, generally pest free and drought tolerant once established, it is a rewarding choice for gardeners looking to grow a fruit that is rarely found in supermarkets.
