Lemon Grass Seeds

Lemon Grass seeds can be grown indoors year-round in pots. Sow several seeds per pot at a depth of 0.5cm (1/4in). Germination can be slow and erratic, so maintain a warm temperature of 20-30°C (70-83°F) to encourage growth. Once the plants reach 10cm (4in) tall, transfer them to large pots or containers. Harvest by cutting stems at ground level, removing leaf blades and stalks as needed in your recipes. Lemon grass doesn’t grow well outdoors in the UK and is not frost hardy.

Lemon Grass seeds can be sown indoors year-round in pots. They prefer warm temperatures, so if your home is warmer in the summer than in the winter, sow your seeds in spring to take advantage of the heat.

Sow several Lemon Grass seeds together in each pot at a depth of 0.5cm (1/4in). If sowing in larger containers, space plants 30cm (1ft) apart to allow room for growth.
