Description
A classic of Italy known as 'Fire Tongue' beans, loved for their excellent flavour, colour and versatility. The decorative beans can be picked and used fresh or left to grow on. Mature beans can be shelled from the pods and dried; these can be prepared and served as dried flageolet or Cannellini.
A Best Buy variety as recommended by the Gardening Press and Consumer Groups.
Recommended by Mark Diacono (Otter Farm owner) in BBC Gardeners World Magazine (January 2015 edition):
“Start borlottis indoors, plant them out when 15cm tall and they’ll romp away with little attention. Use them fresh as young pods and beans, or dried to eat in winter."
