Product Description
Jalapeno (Capsicum annuum) is the classic American pizza pepper. Its colourful, glossy peppers have a satisfying crunch and a perfect balance of heat and flavour. These peppers are ideal for chilis and curries, pickling, deep frying with cream cheese to make chilli poppers, or just snacking on. And, you can grow your own with Mr Fothergill's jalapeno seeds!
Jalapeno plants typically grow between 60 and 90 cm (24 to 36 inches) tall and thrive in full sun and well-drained soil. The peppers, which mature to around 5 to 9 cm (2-3.5 inches) long, start green and ripen to red if left on the plant. Jalapenos have a Scoville rating of between 2,500 and 8,000 units; a manageable heat that's enjoyable for most palates.
A Best Buy variety as recommended by the Gardening Press and Consumer Groups.
Recommended by Chillilicious (Scotland's first chilli farm) in BBC Gardeners World Magazine (January 2015 edition):
“Mild chillies are easier to grow than hot ones in our British climate. Jalapeno Early seeds are almost guaranteed to succeed, as they fruit even earlier than a normal Jalapeno pepper plant.”
Order our high-quality Jalapeno seeds today and grow your own fresh, crisp chillies at home. Pair them with our indoor tomato seeds or coriander seeds for a complete salsa garden. Check out our full selection of vegetable seeds to discover more exciting options for your kitchen.
