Blueberry Pink Lemonade adds a wonderfully unexpected splash of colour to home-grown fruit picking. Its berries change from pale green to flushed pink before ripening to deep pink, with a mild, sweet flavour and firm flesh that's lovely enjoyed fresh from the bush.

This vigorous, upright deciduous shrub grows to around 1.5m and gives the garden another show in autumn, when its foliage turns warm orange-red. Grow it in acidic, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. If your garden soil isn't naturally acidic, it is equally happy in a large patio pot filled with ericaceous compost.
