Blackberry Loch Katrine Plant is the first UK-bred, genuinely sweet blackberry, making it a wonderful choice for gardeners who want to enjoy picking delicious fruit straight from their own garden. Its glossy, aromatic berries are exceptionally sweet, with a Brix rating of up to 14%, making them perfect for sharing fresh from the plant or using in your favourite recipes.

Bred at the renowned James Hutton Institute in Scotland, Loch Katrine produces exceptionally large berries of up to 9g each – roughly double the size of most garden varieties. Each plant can yield over 400 fruits, providing up to 4kg of berries from the mid-early through to the main season and giving the whole family weeks of plentiful home-grown harvests to enjoy.

Thornless stems make picking and pruning straightforward, while the upright canes perform best when supported with wires. As a floricane variety, it fruits on the previous year's growth. Once cropping has finished, simply prune away the fruited canes in late autumn and tie in the new shoots ready for next year's harvest.

This hardy perennial thrives in a sunny position with moist but well-drained soil, producing firm, juicy and sweet berries without bitterness or astringency.
