Description
Anemone coronaria Sylphide Layers of fine rose-pink petals surround a striking black centre, creating full, lively flowers that catch the eye without taking over the garden. This is a lovely choice for brightening a small patio or adding a playful ribbon of colour along the edge of a border.
The low-growing plants reach about 25cm, with finely cut leaves that make the flowers look even more delicate. A few stems can also be picked for a simple posy indoors.
Growing advice: Before planting, soak the dry bulbs in water for several hours to help them wake up. Plant in spring in a sunny, sheltered spot with well-drained soil, or use pots filled with peat-free compost that drains freely. Water when needed as growth begins, but avoid leaving the bulbs sitting in wet soil. Protect pots from severe frost and excessive winter rain; let the soil become drier once the leaves die back. Flowering follows the season and when the bulbs are planted.
