Sow wallflower seeds directly outdoors from April to July for the best results. This timing allows the plants to establish before winter and bloom the following spring. Sow thinly in a well-prepared seed bed, keep moist and weed-free, and enjoy beautiful flowers from as early as March.

Wallflowers typically flower in spring, from March to May, when the weather starts to warm up. They bloom after overwintering, so you won’t see flowers in the first year, but they are an excellent choice if you want early-season colour in your garden.

Yes, most wallflowers (including our Wallflower Persian Carpet mix) can self-seed. After flowering and developing seed pods, the seeds will scatter naturally, growing into new plants the following year. If you would prefer your wallflowers not to self-propagate, deadhead faded blooms to prevent them from going to seed.
