Every year at Mr Fothergill's we are offered lots of new varieties to put into our range by our suppliers - we grow and taste them all. However, many will not pass our tests and we will only introduce something new if its really better, different or an improvement on your tried and tested favourites. This new and improved version of Sarpo Mira has many of the benefits of its parent varieties (Sarpo Mira x Valour) that you have loved for many years now. Forming a strong and robust plant, Java has superb tuber blight resistance that quite possibly can't be beaten. This red skinned maincrop will provide you with a plentiful supply of tubers for boiling, mashing, roasting or as a jacket potato. With good overall disease resistance and good eating qualities and taste….what more is there to ask for?
Potatoes are one of the most rewarding vegetables to grow. There's the nurturing process of chitting, planting and earthing-up, the anticipation of a good harvest as you dig through the soil and, of course, the unbeatable taste of fresh, home-grown, potatoes.
All potatoes (except for maincrops) will benefit from 'chitting' prior to planting out. The chitting process encourages the seed to sprout, which then when planted, helps them to establish more readily, leading to bigger crops. Simply place them, blunt end up, in an old egg box until the shoots are approximately 1.5 to 2.5cm (0.5 to 1in).
All of our seed potatoes are certified “Safe Haven” or equivalent status. The Safe Haven Certification Scheme provides protection for the British potato industry and its customers from bacterial ring rot and other harmful organisms like brown rot and soft rots caused by Dickeya species. The scheme ensures that all seed is only grown from Safe Haven sourced seed or nuclear stock and this helps protect against any pests and diseases which affect potato and are not found in Britain. All our customers can therefore be assured of first class quality seed potatoes for their gardens and allotments.
Potatoes are delivered in 1.5kg bags, each pack containing approx. 15-20 tubers.

Returns Policy
Seeds If you have any concerns or problems with your seeds, please return the packet to us for replacement using the returns address label on your despatch note, telling us what the problem is. Returning the packet will enable us to trace the batch from which it was packed, and to thoroughly investigate any quality control issues.

Return Postage
Costs If a product we have supplied is defective, damaged, or incorrectly supplied, we will be happy to resolve this issue at no cost, either by replacing, refunding or collecting and exchanging the item. If you wish to return a product which was correctly supplied, but which did not meet with your expectations, in accordance with your rights under The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations, we may require you to cover the cost of return. Please contact our Customer Services Team before returning the goods in this case, who will confirm the correct return address and method of return.

Once a returned item arrives with us, we will refund where appropriate using the same payment method used at the time of ordering, within 14 days.
