Product Description
Oh Sow Simple - Broad Bean Seeds from Fothergills are an excellent choice for gardeners seeking delicious, high-quality crops. These beans produce small white seeds renowned for their outstanding flavor, making them a perfect addition to a variety of dishes. The plants yield upward-facing pods, making harvesting easy and efficient. Additionally, these beans are a nutritious source of vitamin B1, folate, and fiber, adding health benefits to their culinary appeal. To sow outdoors, plant seeds 5cm deep directly into finely prepared, pre-watered soil. Maximize space by sowing seeds 23cm apart in a zig-zag pattern within wide rows, leaving 60cm between rows. Seedlings usually emerge within 10-18 days. Early sowings will benefit from cloche protection to shield young plants from harsh conditions. Keep the soil well-watered until the plants are fully established. Successional sowings will provide a continuous harvest over an extended period. For indoor sowing, plant seeds 2.5cm deep in individual pots filled with compost. Water thoroughly and place the pots in a warm location with a temperature of 15-20°C. Once the plants have grown and the risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatize them to outdoor conditions before transplanting them 23cm apart into your garden. With proper care, you’ll enjoy a bountiful harvest of flavorful broad beans.
