Blackcurrant Ben Connan Fruit Plant is a compact, rewarding blackcurrant that makes it easy to enjoy a generous home-grown harvest. An RHS Award of Garden Merit variety, it produces heavy early crops of large, tasty berries, with the fruits on each bunch ripening together to make summer picking satisfyingly simple.

Growing to around 1–1.5m, Ben Connan fits comfortably into a fruit garden, allotment or sunny kitchen-garden border. Give it rich, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil, add plenty of well-rotted manure or compost when planting and keep it watered during dry spells as the crop develops.

Supplied as a bare root plant for planting while dormant. As your bush matures, removing some of the oldest stems in winter encourages fresh young growth and helps keep those enjoyable home-grown harvests coming year after year.
