Akado Onion Sets are an improved autumn-planting variety, an improvement the well-known ‘Electric’, offering stronger performance and reliability in UK gardens. With enhanced root development, excellent bolt resistance and reduced sensitivity to fungal disease, this mid-early variety establishes quickly and grows with confidence through the colder months.
Plant outdoors in a sunny, well-drained position from early autumn. As growth resumes in spring, plants develop into compact, upright crops producing uniform, high-quality red bulbs with an attractive colour and consistent shape.
Harvest in early to mid-summer when the foliage begins to die back naturally. The bulbs deliver a deliciously sweet flavour, making them perfect for enjoying raw in salads or cooked in a wide range of dishes. With reliable performance and generous yields, this variety is a rewarding choice for gardeners of all experience levels.
