Product Description

This robust and striking variety is exceptionally free flowering, with velvet crimson flowers up to 10cm across, with elegantly recurving sepals, all set off by creamy white stamen in the centre. Its foliage transitions from mid-green to a lush dark green throughout the summer. Part of the late flowering clematis group, the flowers are produced on the current seasons stems and can be enjoyed from mid-summer right through early autumn. Any pruning is best done while the plants are dormant in winter. Because these vigorous plants flower at the end of the stems which can exceed 1.8m (6') in length this variety is best grown in the ground, rather than in containers, and trained up a medium to large support, pergolas and archways. Height 1.8-3.7m (6-12').
