Product Description

The cucamelon (Melothria scabra), also known as the Mexican sour gherkin, is a vigorous trailer or climber grown for its unusual edible fruits. Relatively easy to grow, cucamelon seeds produce tiny, grape-sized fruits that look like miniature watermelons, but taste like cucumber with a citrusy twist.

Cucamelons grow on long vines covered with small, green leaves. Each fruit grows around 2-3 cm (1 inch) long and has a delightfully crisp texture when freshly harvested. Their unique tart flavour is quite refreshing - perfect for snacking, salads, pickling, or using as a garnish.

Thriving in full sun with well-drained soil, cucamelon plants are fairly low-maintenance but do need regular watering and a sturdy trellis or support to climb on. These unique melon plants can tolerate various growing conditions, making them a great choice for both experienced and novice gardeners.

Start growing your own cucamelons with our high-quality seeds. Order now to enjoy these tasty, bite-sized fruits fresh from your garden. Grow them alongside classic melon seeds, such as watermelons and honeydews, or explore our full selection of fruit seeds for even more choice.
